Expedited Food Stamp Service
What is Expedited Service?
- Applicants who qualify for expedited service (emergency food stamps)
are
entitled to receive food stamps within 5 calendar days from when
they turn in
their application. The only difference between expedited
service and regular food
stamps is the time frame in which a person
receives their food stamps.
- A person who qualifies for expedited food stamps
is entitled to an eligibility
interview the day the application is
filled out or the
next workday.
You
Qualify for Expedited Food Stamps if:
- Your monthly rent/mortgage and utility payments exceed your gross monthly
income and liquid assets (money in a checking or savings account,
cash or
money received in a lump sum for income tax refunds, back payments
of social
security, etc.); or
- You have a monthly income less than $150 and $100 or less in liquid
assets; or
- You are a migrant farm worker and have $100 or less in liquid assets
and are
“ out of funds”.
What Documents are Required
for Expedited Service?
- Proof of identity, such as a photo ID, state ID, birth certificate,
voter registration card, or work or school ID.
- You DO NOT NEED PROOF of the following to receive expedited service:
o Residency
o Social Security Number
o Income (or the applicant's statement that they have none)
o Assets
o Housing Costs
